The Ford Kuga was built at Ford's plant in Saarlouis, Germany and went on sale at the beginning of 2008.
Ford executives were considering the prospects of sales in North America but scrapped the idea after the car could not be sold both competitively priced and at a profit due to the current dollar-Euro exchange rate in 2007.
In May 2010 Ford announced that it would build unspecified hybrids at a plant in Valencia, Spain. The Ford Kuga Hybrid would be Ford's first hybrid to be sold in Europe, though it has sold almost 100,000 Ford Escape Hybrids in the U.S. since 2004.
The Ford Kuga was voted ‘best small SUV Award 2009’ by Fleet News, the Ford Kuga’s good looks helped on swaying the judges’ decision.
The Ford Kuga is an ideal choice for a family, as the rear and front seat passengers can stretch out and relax, while the cavernous boot is accessed via a two-piece tailgate.
The Ford Kuga’s keyless start button is simple, stylish and the ergonomic steering wheel is easy to handle and the information display comprehensive.
Ford Kuga’s levels of fuel economy and CO2 emissions to the small 4x4 segment and the new models continue that tradition. The two-wheel-drive Ford Kuga is fitted with the new 140PS version of the 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi engine which achieves a CO2 output of just 156g/km, while the 140PS and 163PS all-wheel-drive models with manual transmission deliver 159g/km, a six per cent reduction compared with the previous 136PS engine.
The latest Ford Kuga is available with the ultimate Ford 'Individual' trim on Titanium series which include:
• Unique 'Individual' Front Grille
• Body Coloured Side Skirts and Wheel Arches
• 19" Alloy Wheels
• Roof Rails
• Privacy Glass
• Premium Ebony Leather, Scuff Plates and Floor Mats with 'Individual' Logo
• Aluminium Pedals (manual transmission only)
• High Gloss Black trim
The Ford Kuga looks great, has a strong and economical diesel engine, and strikes a good balance between comfort and control.
