The Volkswagen Phaeton described by Volkswagen as their "premium class" vehicle is a full-size luxury sedan/saloon manufactured by German automaker Volkswagen. The name Phaeton derives from Phaeton, the son of Phoebus (or Helios) in Greek mythology.
The Distinctive features of the Volkswagen Phaeton include a draftless four-zone climate system, air compressor suspension system, and standard Torsen-based 4motion four-wheel drive. The Development of the Volkswagen Phaeton led to over 100 individual patents specific to the car.
A front wheel drive only configuration was available with the 3.2L engine during 2003 and 2004. Since 2007, the Volkswagen Phaetons 4motion permanent four-wheel drive is the only driveline system available.
The Volkswagen Phaeton has many new features and technologies including:

• Mobile broadband internet (UMTS)
The 2011 model year of Volkswagen Phaeton was first seen at the Beijing Motor Show with a new facelift once. The Phaetons facelift includes new front fascia, new LED running lights, bi-xenon headlights, new bumper and LED fog lights. The rear LED clusters has also been altered and the interior benefits from some new technologies.
The Phaeton is available in a normal wheelbase and long wheelbase with a 5-seat layout or an optional 4-seat layout. In the 5-seat version, the front seats can be adjusted 12 ways. It has standard features like all-wheel drive, air suspension, and 4-zone automatic climate control. It also has a multifunction steering wheel that can be ordered in leather or wood-leather.
