Toyota Auris - any good?

Toyota introduced the Auris in 2007 as a compact 3/5 door hatchback which shares the same platform as the Toyota Corolla and is the replacement for the Corolla. Toyota used the name Auris because in Latin is means “Gold”.

Toyota has positioned the Auris as a high end small family hatchback to compete with the Volkswagen Golf, Vauxhall Astra and Ford Focus. It is available in four trim levels, the T2, T3, T4 and the T180.

The Auris is available with 4 engines choices of which there are 2 petrol, 1 diesel and a petrol-electric hybrid. The 1.3 petrol has 99bhp; the 1.6 petrol has 130bhp and on paper is much faster than the smaller engine.

Audi A5 Sportback

Audi have been producing the A5 since 2007, initially released as a coupe and a convertible, in 2010 Audi released the Audi A5 Sportback in Newton Abbot . The Sportback has 5 doors and a long tapering roofline giving it a coupe like appearance, similar to what Mercedes did with the CLS.

Audi have described the Sportback as "emotional and elegant as a coupe, as comfortable as a saloon, and as practical as an Avant".

The A5 Sportback is available with 3 diesel and 2 petrol engine variants; there is 2.0 litre TDI, a 2.7 litre TDI and a 3.0 litre TDI. The 2.0 and 2.7 litre diesels come with a manual 6 speed gearbox, the 3.0 litre comes with a 7 speed S tronic box.

Volkswagen Golf

The Volkswagen Golf and VW Polo are to enter the RAC Future Car Challenge, it is the very first of the RAC event, and the challenge will take place on the 6th November 2010. The route the cars will take is from Madeira Drive in Brighton to Pall Mall in London. The winner of the challenge will be the vehicle which uses the least amount of energy.

Along with the Golf and Polo, Volkswagen have entered the prototype Golf Blue-e-Motion, it is an electric vehicle with 115bhp and 199lbs of torque. The power is delivered though an electric motor which is powered by lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 26.5 KWh.

The New Kia Sportage

The Kia Sportage is a compact crossover SUV which was built by the Korean automaker Kia Motors since 1993. The Kia Sportage was developed on the Mazda bongo engineering base platform.

Kia Sportage was named as one of the most reliable vehicles in 2009 by Consumer Reports reliability survey, The Kia Sportage also ranked second in the “20 least expensive 2009 vehicles to insure” list by Insure.com.

The second-generation Kia Sportage earned a top rating of five stars in crash tests by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Kia Sportage was the world's first production vehicle to be equipped with a knee airbag.

New VW Golf GTI

Volkswagen have been manufacturing the Golf since 1974, the Golf has been VW’s most popular model. The front wheel drive version of the Golf was the initial replacement for the Beetle. The most popular variation of the Golf is the 3 door hatchback.

The latest Golf generation was introduced in 2009 and went on sale in 2010; Kelley Blue Book has included the VW Golf TDI among its Top 10 Green cars for 2010.

A favourite variation of the Golf has been the Golf GTi, a must have high performance vehicle popular all over the world. The new Golf GTi has lived up to the amazing looks left by its predecessors; the Golf has always been popular because of its performance, handling and “thrill” to drive.

Volkswagen Phaeton

The Volkswagen Phaeton described by Volkswagen as their "premium class" vehicle is a full-size luxury sedan/saloon manufactured by German automaker Volkswagen. The name Phaeton derives from Phaeton, the son of Phoebus (or Helios) in Greek mythology.

The Distinctive features of the Volkswagen Phaeton include a draftless four-zone climate system, air compressor suspension system, and standard Torsen-based 4motion four-wheel drive. The Development of the Volkswagen Phaeton led to over 100 individual patents specific to the car.

A front wheel drive only configuration was available with the 3.2L engine during 2003 and 2004. Since 2007, the Volkswagen Phaetons 4motion permanent four-wheel drive is the only driveline system available.

Used Audi A6 Essex

The Audi A6 is an executive saloon produced by the German manufacturer in Keckarsulam, Germany. The A6 is also available as an estate or as Audi like to call them “Avant” body style. It is available as front wheel drive or with Audi’s renowned Quattro permanent 4 wheel drive system.

The A6 was born out of the Audi 100 in 1994, the exterior resembled a lot from its predecessor, the only changes were the new rear and front lights and a new radiator grill.

The new engines for the A6 were the 1.8 litre 20v inline four cylinder, and 2.8 litre 30v V6 petrol engines, with the 2.3 litre inline five engine being dropped on most markets. For the diesel engines, an inline four 1.9 Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI), and the inline five (R5) 2.5 TDI 138 bhp were available.
