The much-talked-about Ford Focus is on its way to the UK, it was announced last week. The model, which has been the subject of a number of cross-platform social media campaigns over the last six months, is now being brought in to Ford showrooms across the country in preparation for next month’s sales launch.
Shipments, which began earlier in the month, are currently averaging about 1,000 vehicles a day and are expected to increase towards the end of the month. All Focus cars being imported are five-door models and will be in dealerships just in time to sport the new registration plate coming out in March.
As expected, there is already a high demand for the new Ford Focus. After Auto Trader revealed that the original and second-generation Focuses are the most discussed cars in the UK, it is no surprise that there is growing anticipation for the release of the third generation model. The European Vice President of Ford’s Marketing, Sales and Service department, Roelant de Waard said,
“"We are seeing very strong demand building up for the new Focus. It's a great looking car loaded with a host of advanced technologies such as Low Speed Safety, which reduces the risk of low-speed collisions; Lane Keeping Aid to stop drifting across lanes, and Active Park Assist – which makes parallel parking a breeze."
In addition to this, the new Focus boasts Ford’s new EcoBoost engines that deliver excellent fuel economy. Chairman and Managing Director of Essex Ford dealership group said,
"You can tell immediately you drive it, that this takes Focus to a new level. Ford has taken all of its key models to best-in-class, which is really exciting for us. The technology in the new Focus is sensational and the car is a big leap forward."
The new Ford Focus is also set to hit American markets later this year following a growing media buzz around the model.
