Qashqai in Top Ten Best Sellers list

The Nissan Qashqai is quickly heading towards securing a spot in the top ten best sellers list. Not only is the UK designed, engineered and built car a success in the UK but also worldwide. It has just passed the 1,000,000 units sold mark, after just four years in production.

The car that is a cross between a traditional hatchback and elevated SUV captured the car-buying public's imagination. The new Nissan which was updated in March 2010 with a refreshed design, improved fuel economy and CO2 emissions has been a mainstay of Nissan's European line-up for four consecutive years.

The Nissan Qashqai is currently being produced at two of Nissan’s factory including the Sunderland factory in the UK and the Kyushu factory in Japan, and also at its two plants in China which are the Dongfeng Nissan's Huadu Plant and Zhengzhou Nissan's No. 2 Plant. The UK is by far the biggest producer of Qashqai, with more than 800,000 of the 1,000,000 being made in Sunderland.

Guillaume Masurel, Nissan's Global Chief Marketing Manager for Nissan Qashqai, said: "Qashqai is clearly the pioneer when it comes to 'Compact Crossovers', setting the trend that others in the industry follow. Its balance of key SUV attributes like robust design, roomy interior and higher driving position combined with the benefits of a hatchback such as great fuel economy, compactness and driving dynamics, resonates well with customers around the world. Combining the innovative concept with customer-oriented technology features, the Qashqai clearly demonstrates Nissan's unique approach to meet customers' changing expectations of their cars."
