Mercedes Benz of Germany has been producing the SL Class since 1954, it is a small 2 seat open top roadster. The new Mercedes-Benz SL stays true to its roots and is still a seat roadster but, rather than a soft top it now comes with a retractable hard top.
The current model has been with is since 2002, it got a facelift in 2006 which included a new bumper with three large cooling air intakes and a more pronounced V-shape as well as fog lamps with chrome surrounds emphasise the power of the two-seater and give it a wider look, new light-alloy wheels, new rear light.
There were some interior changes too, including new interior colours, high-quality metal door sills with Mercedes-Benz lettering and embossed aluminium trim elements, removable luggage cover, optional remote boot-lid release.
A further facelift was applied in 2008, it got a more aggressive front end reflecting Mercedes' new design philosophy, with a pair of long power domes on the bonnet and a single-bar grille replacing the old three-bar effort.
The SL Class comes with an array of engines to choose from, all high performance petrol units. There are two V6 options in the form of the SL300 and SL350. Two V8 engines are available in the SL500 and SL63 AMG, for the more power hungry driver there are two V12 engines in the SL600 and the SL65 AMG. Power from the engines vary from 228 bhp to a mighty 603 bhp in the SL65 AMG.
The V8 and V12 powered models feature Mercedes’ Active Body Control suspension, which counteracts body roll and offers two settings: comfort and sport.
